It can achieve operations far away from the boiling point. The greater the difference in molecular weight, the greater the difference in molecular free path, and the purer the distillate. The molecular free path here (using λ It refers to the distance between two adjacent collisions of a molecule.
Under the condition of high vacuum, the liquid mixture flows along the heating plate and is heated. According to the difference of the average free path of molecules of different molecular weight substances, their average free path size and evaporation degree between the vaporization surface and the condensation surface are also obviously different. The average free path of light component molecules is large, while the average free path of heavy component molecules is small, so that the light components can just reach the condensation plate and be condensed, Leave it along the condensing plate; However, the heavy component molecules can not reach the condensing plate and stay along the heating plate to separate different substances.
